Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between independent living and assisted living?
Independent living at Comfort of Living is designed for active seniors who desire a maintenance-free lifestyle and want to enjoy a vibrant community with access to a wide range of social activities, amenities, and delicious dining options. Residents manage their daily personal care. Assisted living provides many of the same benefits, but with the added layer of personalized support for daily tasks such as medication management, bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility, all delivered with dignity and respect. It’s for residents who need a little extra help to maintain their independence.
How is memory care different from assisted living?
While both memory care and assisted living provide personalized support, memory care is a specialized program designed specifically for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. It features a secure, dedicated environment to ensure safety and prevent wandering, a structured routine, and activities tailored to cognitive abilities and memory enhancement. Caregivers in memory care are specially trained in dementia communication and support techniques. Assisted living, on the other hand, provides general support for daily tasks in a non-secured environment, without this specific cognitive focus or specialized programming.
Can I bring my own furniture to my suite?
Absolutely! We encourage our residents to personalize their private suites with their cherished furniture, decor, and belongings. Our goal is for your new suite to truly feel like home. We welcome you to bring your favorite pieces to create a comfortable and familiar environment. We simply ask that you ensure furniture fits comfortably and safely within your chosen suite layout.
Are pets allowed?
Yes, at Comfort of Living, we understand that pets are cherished members of the family! We welcome well-behaved, friendly pets into our community. We have a pet policy in place to ensure the comfort and safety of all residents, which includes guidelines on pet size, type, and responsibility for care. Please speak with our team for full details on our pet-friendly policies and any associated requirements.
What types of activities do you offer?
We pride ourselves on offering a diverse and engaging calendar of activities designed to nourish the mind, body, and spirit. Our offerings cater to a wide range of interests and abilities, ensuring there’s always something enjoyable to participate in. Activities typically include: fitness classes (like gentle yoga, walking clubs), creative arts (painting, crafts), educational seminars and guest speakers, musical performances, movie nights, game nights (cards, board games), social hours, gardening clubs, book clubs, and regularly scheduled off-site outings for shopping, dining, and cultural events. Our goal is to foster a vibrant community where residents can explore new hobbies, rekindle old passions, and connect with peers.
